It’s a special day in the neighborhood! Sesame Street debuted on television on November 10, 1969. I grew up watching the show and it feels like the well known characters are old friends. I must have watched the show an awful lot because I can still get Bert and Ernie’s rubber ducky song stuck in my head! Big Bird and his imaginary friend Mr. Snuffleupagus, Grover, Cookie Monster, and the Count kept me entertained while learning, singing, and just plain having a good time. By far, the character that had me laughing the most was my special favorite, Oscar the Grouch!
I have terrific memories of children’s shows like Capt. Kangaroo, Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, the Muppet Show, and of course Sesame Street, that presented quality entertainment for children that captured our imaginations. Anniversaries like these remind me of how I want to include these memories in my Book of Me. These shows were a part of American life for my generation. I can’t wait to create a scrapbook layout to celebrate these childhood favorites.
Let me know in the comments if you’ve included your favorite childhood tv shows in your Book of Me and be sure to tell me who is your favorite Sesame Street character.
