Happy New Year

Let’s make 2014 the best year yet! For me that means, making my year extra crafty.  Before I turn my full focus on my goals for the new year, I’ve got a few crafty projects to celebrate wrapping up 2013.  If last year was tough for you in any way, I think  it is particularly helpful to get closure by scrapbooking your struggles.  While I think there is value in documenting the milestones of the year and even the trends in pop culture, I think we get even more out of documenting our challenges.

I love to scrapbook.  I am a total night owl and happily sacrifice sleep to make layouts.  I make my scrapbooks to tell my story and that means I am not going to leave out the tough stuff.  There’s an art to taking our journaling to a deeper, more meaningful level.  When I’m including my struggles in my albums, I use a lot of hidden journaling or even create a mini book that I don’t share with my friends and family – something more like a diary with art.

So this weekend I am creating my annual layout “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly – 2013″.  I’ll make a layout of my favorite things of 2013 and then I’m moving on to documenting my goals for 2014.  I hope you’ll join me in making 2014 extra crafty and give  this idea a try.  Let me know how it works for you!
