The October Stamp of the Month set, Home For The Holidays, is just what I needed to gear up for a season of card making and gift wrapping! I love using my supplies to add a special touch to simple gifts. I know I would love to find this thoughtful treat on my desk.
Special handmade touches make this gift extra thoughtful
The ornament tag on this box was created with our Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge and our Home For The Holidays stamp set. Five of the stamps (those outlined in red in the image below) in this set have a matching image on our Cricut cartridge!

Elegant Cricut tag with 3D flowers
The flowers were created with the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge. If you look closely you will see that there are two different flower types on the tag. This cartridge includes six unique 3D flower designs!
Cutting your own flowers saves money and opens up a world of options. You’ll find that you can create the perfect embellishment with just a small scrap of paper. You can kick the design up a notch by bending petals, inking petal edges, applying glitter glue or even creating your own pattern with stamped images before the flower is formed. Contact me today to schedule a workshop and learn to cut dimensional Cricut flowers!
Join me for an evening of creativity and crafting inspiration this Thursday, April 10th at 6pm. I am offering a workshop featuring Spring themed cards and 3D Cricut cut flowers at Green Lotus Studios (located on Rosselle Street between King and Stockton, just one block from Bold City Brewery). Experiment with clear acrylic stamps, gorgeous inks and unique die cut shapes.
Don’t forget this Saturday is the Welcome Spring Craft Fair. I’ll be at 2762 Park Street with my good friend Courtney and our booth is overflowing with terrific products including Lotus Bud teas, healing balms and salves from Green Lotus Organics, handmade soaps and luxury bath products including some very special Easter goodies. The Craft Fair runs from 9am until 4pm. Hope to see you there!
While Saturday’s Welcome Spring Craft Fair was a soggy wash out, Sunday’s Zumbathon benefit was just what I needed to pump up my energy. Even better, the Welcome Spring Craft Fair rain date has been set for Saturday, April 12th so I’ll be heading back to Park Street with loads of goodies from soaps and solid shampoos to Idea Books. I hope you’ll make plans to be there!
Speaking of solid shampoo, I will be back at Green Lotus Organics this Saturday at 3pm teaching the art of beer shampoo bars. Join me and explore techniques for creating shine and volume in the hair without the use of animal proteins. Please note that this is an advanced class. Please contact me before registering if you have not completed the hot process soap making class.
As we say goodbye to March, I want to remind you that today is your last opportunity to take home the Happy Place stamp set as well as the end of our Studio J March savings promotion.

“If we were invincible
if we could never die
and all the world could rise against us
and we’d dare to fight
dare to fight
nothing left to fear
we could never fall
so in love, head full of fire
we’d be invincible”
I am obsessed with this song, Invincible, from All Good Things. It’s being used in advertisements for tonight’s episode of “Reign” which I have to admit has completely captured my imagination. “Reign” is a highly fictionalized telling of the story of Mary, Queen of Scots during her time in the court of France. As something of a history buff, I find the costumes ridiculous and the changes to the ages of the characters something of a joke. That’s only the tip of the iceberg but even as my scholarly side points out the many inaccuracies, I keep tuning in because at its heart, “Reign” is a love story.
A fictionalized tale of Mary, Queen of Scots
There’s nothing quite so compelling as a good love story. It can be a tale of romantic love, best friends, mother love or even the love we feel for our pets. Your love stories deserve to be told! As Valentine’s Day approaches, consider sharing your story with a handmade card or mini album. Check out this video from Close To My Heart for inspiration.
Contact me for more information on my Valentine’s workshop and I’ll show you how to create a treasured gift or special card. Tell your love story today!
I’ve been posting lots of stamp and scrapbook ideas lately, but today I’m taking a break from inks and glitters to whip up a batch of beer soaps. I’ll be spending the afternoon at Green Lotus Studios creating soaps and shampoos with Newcastle Brown Ale, Heineken and Bass Ale! These soaps will be available exclusively at Beerhammer’s Beer Gear in St. Augustine.
Green Lotus currently has the Bold City Suds line in stock including Bold Neighbor bath and shower bar, Mad Manatee exfoliating salt bar, Killer Whale Cream Ale shampoo bar and Duke’s Cold Nose Brown Ale Doggy Style solid pet shampoo. If you haven’t washed your hair with beer, you are missing out! The Killer Whale solid shampoo offers volume and softness with organic honey for added shine. If you’re looking for an all natural, animal fat free shampoo bar, look for my Rapunzel bar. There are just a few left in stock, or watch the January class calendar for my next beer shampoo bar class to learn the secret to creating your own.
Speaking of the upcoming class schedule, I’m offering two very popular classes next week. Join me Thursday at 6pm for Beginners Cold Process Soap Making or Friday, December 20th at 6pm for Perfumes. I hope to see you in the Studio soon!
Trick or Treat!
Happy Halloween! My coworkers and I never pass up an opportunity to add a little fun to our work day. I had such a good time spending the day in costume. I can’t wait to add this photo to my Halloween mini book, which I created with the Cricut Artiste cartridge. I’ve got lots of scrappy projects to work on this weekend with my stamping buddy, Joann. The two of us are addicted to Close To My Heart and we inspire each other with creative energy. I’ll bet this is the weekend we wear out the Cricut blade! If you’re crafting this weekend, I’d love to hear about your projects.

Are you making handmade holiday cards and decor this year? I’ve got my heart set on creating a set of paper trees like the ones pictured on the cover of the Close To My Heart Holiday Gift Guide.
The recipe (which can be downloaded at the above link) calls for a number of Cricut shapes including a variety of accordion folded circles (also known as yo-yos, medallions or rosettes). I’ve got a great tip for creating these with ease! When you are ready to adhere the accordion folded circle to the base, apply a generous amount of Liquid Glass. Press the folds into the Liquid Glass and then place the piece inside a jar lid. The rim of the lid should hold the folds in place until your glue has set.
Accordion folded circles are often called yo-yos, medallions or rosettes

Presentation makes this gift extra special.
One of my favorite creative places in Jacksonville is Green Lotus Studios. Some time ago, I took classes on cold process soap and lotion making. Fast forward a couple years and I think it would be fair to say I am addicted to making soap. In fact, I’m currently teaching cold process soaps and an advance class on salt soaps at Green Lotus! Typically, a beginner class includes a short lecture period and a hands on lesson. Each student takes home one pound of soap.
Soap is the perfect favor at a baby or bridal shower and it makes a great gift for a friend, teacher or hostess. You can create a bath set of custom products or give a single bar as a small token. Gift wrapping soap and other small items can be a challenge. I’ve created a class to help you present your soap with an extra special presentation. Join me this Friday at 6pm at Green Lotus to learn more. The workshop fee of $15 covers all supplies. Pre-registration is required as class kits must be made in advance. RSVP to 904.472.0755
