After a quick visit to the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival, I’ve got a good size stash of Spring photos to scrapbook. This incredible event features awesome floral displays including Disney character topiaries, floating gardens and a number of themed gardens. These layouts are the perfect place for floral embellishments! I’ve got my Art Philosophy cartridge and a selection of stamps packed for cropping this weekend. Until then, check out this quick video on creating flowers with Cricut and My Acrylix stamps:
Check out this elegant tag created at a recent workshop focused on Cricut cut 3D flowers!
The flowers were created with the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge. If you look closely you will see that there are two different flower types on the tag. This cartridge includes six unique 3D flower designs!
Cutting your own flowers saves money and opens up a world of options. You’ll find that you can create the perfect embellishment with just a small scrap of paper. You can kick the design up a notch by bending petals, inking petal edges, applying glitter glue or even creating your own pattern with stamped images before the flower is formed. Contact me today to schedule a workshop and learn to cut dimensional Cricut flowers!

Are you ready to take your cards and layouts to the next level? Here are my top ten tricks for adding an impressive pop of dimension to your projects.
10. Add layered die cut images by cutting your Cricut shapes in either multiple sizes or colors.
9. Use foam tape or pop dots to lift an embellishment with ease.
8. Sew on your layout. This is super easy with our Stitch Guide and Foam Mat.
7. Use shimmer trim (now available in silver, black, bronze, red, teal and purple) or washi tape.
6. Ink the edges of your papers and embellishments.
5. Add 3D flowers to your layout with your Cricut.
4. Add layered stamped images.
3. Add yo yos (also known as medallions or rosettes)
What are your favorite tips for adding dimension to your cards and layouts? Please post them in the comments!
It’s no secret that I am obsessed with the overlays on the Cricut Artbooking cartridge. I love using them on both my cards and layouts so I was especially excited to see the latest episode of Artbooking Made Easy includes tips for working with these elements. Give your cards and scrapbook pages color, pattern and dimension with a quick cut from your Cricut!
I love the Artbooking Made Easy video series! These quick episodes never fail to inspire me to get out my Cricut and create. In fact, the first time I saw the Art Philosophy cartridge I knew I would become a consultant. I signed up the very next day! I’d purchased stamps and inks before, but nothing had ramped up my creative mojo like that cartridge! I couldn’t believe all of the projects, cards and scrapbook pages I saw created with elements from Art Philosophy. I just love how easy it is to add that WOW! factor to my projects, especially when cutting the perfect shape to work with a stamp. Artiste made three dimensional elements so simple to create. It became my go to answer for party favors, hostess gifts and more. Artbooking is the perfect addition to the collection. I love how everything is perfectly sized based on the size of my album. Plus, I am addicted to the overlays!
I hope this edition of the video series will inspire you to get your Cricut running! Be sure to comment and tell me your favorite way to use the cartridges.
“If we were invincible
if we could never die
and all the world could rise against us
and we’d dare to fight
dare to fight
nothing left to fear
we could never fall
so in love, head full of fire
we’d be invincible”
I am obsessed with this song, Invincible, from All Good Things. It’s being used in advertisements for tonight’s episode of “Reign” which I have to admit has completely captured my imagination. “Reign” is a highly fictionalized telling of the story of Mary, Queen of Scots during her time in the court of France. As something of a history buff, I find the costumes ridiculous and the changes to the ages of the characters something of a joke. That’s only the tip of the iceberg but even as my scholarly side points out the many inaccuracies, I keep tuning in because at its heart, “Reign” is a love story.
There’s nothing quite so compelling as a good love story. It can be a tale of romantic love, best friends, mother love or even the love we feel for our pets. Your love stories deserve to be told! As Valentine’s Day approaches, consider sharing your story with a handmade card or mini album. Check out this video from Close To My Heart for inspiration.
Contact me for more information on my Valentine’s workshop and I’ll show you how to create a treasured gift or special card. Tell your love story today!

I’m vacationing in one of my very favorite places, Walt Disney World, enjoying some of the most beautiful Christmas decorations ever seen, seasonal music and of course tasty holiday treats (please don’t tell my trainer!). One of my best tips for those of you sharing your holiday season with Mickey & Minnie is to be sure to venture out to the resort hotels. They all have lavish displays! Make sure you visit the gingerbread carousel at the Yacht and Beach Club resort. This stunning, working carousel features unique horses and Disney characters; it’s made entirely in the resort bakery. They also have a booth where you can purchase a Gingerbread snowflake cookie. It’s my favorite holiday specialty. I’ve already eaten a few while I snapped photos of the horses. I’m super excited to scrapbook these pics when I get home. I’m already thinking of how I’ll use the carousel image on the Cricut Artbooking cartridge.
I’ve also got some terrific shots of Main Street, USA in the Magic Kingdom. The decorations and lights are stunning. I’ve even got a few pictures with magical Disney snow! For these photos, I am planning a layout with our Christmas Village stamp set.
Being here in the Happiest Place on Earth has gotten me super excited about kicking off my new Disney Layout Club. If you have a box of Disney photos or if you’re making Disney vacation plans, this club is for you! I’ll be including layout designs for all four theme parks, various attractions, favorite characters and seasonal events for a low monthly price. You’ll get tips on creating pages that wow quickly and easily. All of the class materials will be online so you can work at your own pace. Look for the Disney Layout Club to debut in 2014!
I had the Cricut fired up this weekend. My faithful cropping pal, Joann, was in the home stretch of completing her Christmas cards and I was determined to finish a couple of decorated pillow boxes to hold holiday gifts. My Cricut was humming as we cut Christmas tree shapes, labels with ribbon slits, outlines for our stamped images, pillow boxes, rosettes and more! As we flipped through the Artbooking image guide, I knew my next project would be a Winter Wonderland layout. I’m attending Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party tonight and I plan to take a bunch of photos of the snow on Main Street.
This layout key is featured in this week’s Artbooking Made Easy episode. Talk about perfect timing! I hope this will inspire you to get your camera and your Cricut going.
